; There is a will and probate record and a Find A Grave memorial for a Cornelia HEERMANS (1826-1890 according to her FAG memorial) and m. William J. HEERMANS. This couple appear in the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses of Pleasant Valley, Dutchess Co., NY. However, the Cornelia/Cordelia who was the dau. of James and Eliza (HART) HEERMANS appears in her father's household in the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Potter and Milo Twps (respectively) of Yates Co. So this will is not for the dau. of James and Eliza (HART) HEERMANS

Northern Christian Advocate, March 21, 1860, Branchport, New York, East Genesee Conference
March 1, 1860 - The Lord has visited and refreshed his people upon this charge. We have been faithfully using the means that God has ordained for the salvation of our race, for six weeks, at Kinney's Corners. The Church has been very much quickened, and between forty-eight and fifty have been converted and reclaimed. All classes have shared in this blessed work, from the youth of our Sabbath-school to those who have spent sixty years in sin. About thirty have united with the church, and others will soon. While we thank God and take courage, in view of what has been accomplished, we are still looking for great things. Written by Rev. E. J. Hermans
Death Notice, The Christian Advocatem November 19, 1896

"The Northern Christian Advocate" says he was "a zealous, devoted and successful minister for many years, and was greatly respected and most tenderly beloved." He joined the old East Genesee Conference in 1855. He had served as Presiding Elder for sixteen years.
