;
His 2nd wife
Per Ravilious [2017:50]: "Based on chronology, she was most likely a daughter of Sir John Graham and sister of Agnes (Graham) Douglas, making Sir James Douglas of Dalkeith her first cousin. It is not surprising that Hugh, Earl of Ross would have chosen a daughter of Sir John Graham of Abercorn as his second wife. In the early 14th century they were the senior and certainly the wealthiest family of that name, with their holdings including lands in the Lothians, Eskdale, Ayrshire, and Dumfriesshire courtesy of a series of marriages with the heiresses of Avenel, Muschamps and others. What portion of this wealth came to Earl Hugh with this marriage is unknown, but we can at least now accurately identify the ancestral heritage of Queen Euphemia and her siblings."3,2,9

     ; NB: I am uncertain about the link between Margad (Echmarcach) Ragnallson and Somelred.
     My source for the link between Gillbride (father of Somerled) and Margad (Echmarcach) Ragnallson is Ashley (1998). A chart in Ashley (chart 25, p. 420) shows the following:
1. Margad
1.1 Gilleadamnan
1.1.1 Gillebride
1.1.1.1 Somerled

     None of my the major sources I have consulted (Genealogics, Med Lands) link Gillebride to Margad (Echmarcach) Ragnallson, though Margad (Echmarcach) seems to have been a historic person, according to his Wikipedia entry.
     Genealogics shows a similar ancestry for Somerled which has a "Solmund" as the father of Gilleadamnan/Gilladamnan (citing The Highland Clans, London, 1977 , Moncreiffe of that Ilk, Hicks, David):
1. Solmund
1.1 Gilladamnan
1.1.1 Gillebride, claimant of Argyll
1.1.1.1 Somerled, King of the South Isles, King in Argyll and Lorn

     Genealogics shows no ancestor or dates for Gilleadamnan/Gilladamnan. There is no reason to believe that Solmund is simply another name for Margad (Echmarcach) Ragnallson.
Conclusion: I am uncertain as to whether the father of Gilleadamnan/Gilladamnan was Margad or Solmund, and if there were the same person. However, for the present, I have identified Margad as Solmund and kept the lineage to Somerled in place. GA Vaut.2,5,6,7

; Per Ashley [1998:425]:
     "MARGAD RAGNALLSON Dublin, 1035-8, 1046-52; Man and Galloway, 1052-c61; Galloway only 1061-4. Also known as Echmarcach. His ancestry is uncertain but he was probably the son of Ragnall, the Norse king of Waterford who died in 1035, and could thus claim descent from RAGNALL, king of York and Man. He was first established as king of Dublin in 1035 after Sitric Silkenbeard was deposed but was himself deposed in 1038 by Ivar Haraldson, whom he in turn deposed to regain the kingdom of Dublin in 1046. When he was deposed again in 1052, he seems to have claimed the kingdoms of Man and Galloway during the conflict in Scotland of MACBETH'S reign. He was defeated in 1060 or 1061 by MURCHAID MAC DIARMAIT, the king of Dublin, who brought Man under his control but Margad continued ruling in Galloway. He abdicated in 1064 and died the following year.”.1 Margad Ragnallson (?) King of Dublin, Man and Galloway was also known as Echmarcach (?) King of Dublin, Man and Galloway.1 Margad Ragnallson (?)
