perfect mind and memory, And calling to mind the mortality of all mankind Do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament in manner and form following. That is to say: First and principally

Co., Decd., by his will, dated Augt. 7, 1757, among other things, loaned unto his wife, Susanna Collins, his whole estate, etc., during her widowhood, and after her marriage or death the executors of sd. will were to dispose of the estate and the sd. will directed the money arising from sale of land to be equally divided between his four sons, to wit: James, William, Thomas and Lewis Collins, and whereas sd. James, by deed,--,17--, conveyed unto sd. Thomas his share and the sd. Wm., Thomas and Lewis Collins have since by their deed Nov. 13, 1760, conveyed to the sd. Joseph Collins wae probably grandson of William Collins, of the Isle of Wight, who obtained a grant of 561 acres of land in King and Queen County in 1635 . He arrived in Virginia May 15 that year, on the ship the ''Plain Joan", Richard Backam, Master.
This shipload of immigrants is recorded as having brought with them "attestations of their conformation to the orders and discipline of the Church of England." William Collins was 23 years old when he arrived in Virginia in 1635, and in 1691, in Book 8 of the King and Queen County records, he is listed as a merchant.
John Collins, father of Joseph married a daughter of Abraham Weeks (Order Book 1, 1686 Essex Co.) There was a Matthew Collins also who may have been uncle.

Elizabeth Obert was the posthumous child of Bertram Obert and his second wife Anne. Soon after Bertram Obert died Anne married John Vause. Witnesseth that the said DAVID CARR for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings current money to him in hand paid by the said DANIEL COOK at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he the said DANIEL COOK doth hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said DANIEL COOK five hundred acres of land situate lying and being in Spoysylvania County in a fork of Pemonkey River and is bounded as followeth [Vizt.] Beginning at a white oak and two small pines by a branch [it being also a corner to JOHN COOK's land] and running thence north east three hundred and fourty eight poles to a stake between three pines in JOHN COOK's line on the north side of branch south east two hundred and fourty four poles to three corner pines in THOMAS COOK's line thence along THOMAS COOK's line southwest hree hundred and fourty eight poles to a white oak and a small pine by a branch thence north west to the beginning place and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders of the same and of every part thereof together with all the Rents and profits of the premises and of every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the said seal or tract of land and premises with all the appurtenances to the said DANIEL COOK his Exrs. Admrs. and assigns from the day before the date hereof for and during the full end and term of one whole year from thence next ensuing and fully to be compleat and ended yielding and paying therefore the rent of one Ear of Indian Corn at the feast of St. Michael the arch Angell only if the same be demanded to the end intent and purpose that by vertue of these presents and of the Statute for Transferring uses into possessions the said DANIEL COOK may be in the actual possession of the premises and be enabled to accept a grant and release of the reversion and Inheritance of the same to him the said DANIEL COOK his heirs and assigns for ever. Witnesseth that the said DAVID CARR for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings current money to him in hand paid by the said DANIEL COOK at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he the said DANIEL COOK doth hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said DANIEL COOK five hundred acres of land situate lying and being in Spoysylvania County in a fork of Pemonkey River and is bounded as followeth [Vizt.] Beginning at a white oak and two small pines by a branch [it being also a corner to JOHN COOK's land] and running thence north east three hundred and fourty eight poles to a stake between three pines in JOHN COOK's line on the north side of branch south east two hundred and fourty four poles to three corner pines in THOMAS COOK's line thence along THOMAS COOK's line southwest hree hundred and fourty eight poles to a white oak and a small pine by a branch thence north west to the beginning place and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders of the same and of every part thereof together with all the Rents and profits of the premises and of every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the said seal or tract of land and premises with all the appurtenances to the said DANIEL COOK his Exrs. Admrs. and assigns from the day before the date hereof for and during the full end and term of one whole year from thence next ensuing and fully to be compleat and ended yielding and paying therefore the rent of one Ear of Indian Corn at the feast of St. Michael the arch Angell only if the same be demanded to the end intent and purpose that by vertue of these presents and of the Statute for Transferring uses into possessions the said DANIEL COOK may be in the actual possession of the premises and be enabled to accept a grant and release of the reversion and Inheritance of the same to him the said DANIEL COOK his heirs and assigns for ever.
