     "In the name of God, Amen, I William Blackwell of Albemarle County being sick and weak in body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto almighty God calling unto the mortality of my body, knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to lay princepally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial, and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
     First I give and bequeath unto Sarah, my dear beloved wife all my estate both real and personal, serving her widowhood, then my desire is, that it shall be equally divided among my children that is alive.
     "I do appoint my wife and my son Armistead and William Blackwell to be my full and sole executors of this my last will and testament. I do hereby revoke and annul and make void all former wills and testaments made. In witness whereof I the said William Blackwell hath set my hand and seal this 23rd day of November, 1774.
