The tract descended to the said Elizabeth Cralle and Mary Straughan, her sister, being daughters and heirs of James Straughan, decd. and the whole descended to the said Elizabeth by the death of her sister, Mary Straughan.

Northumberland county, January 1763, George Harvey and Elizabeth, his wife, sell to William Eskridge one hundred and twenty acres, situatioed in the Parish of St. Stephens in Cherry Point Neck on one of the branches of the Yeocomico River, bounded by the land of Opey Lindsey and the lad of John Fauntleroy and the land of John Broughton, which land formerly belong to James Straughan. and at his decease descended to Mary Straughan and Elizabeth, coheirs of the sd James Straughan, and at the death of the said Mary wholy descended to the sd Elizabeth Straughan, now Elizabeth Harvey, wife of the said George Harvey.1

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we EDWARD BARROW, JOHN TARPLEY, CHARLES BARBER all of County of Richmond Gent. are held and firmly bound unto our Sovereigne Lady Anne by the grace of God of Great Brittaine France and Ireland, Queene defender of the faith &c., in the summe of One thousand pounds Sterl., to which payment well and truely to be made we bind our selves by these presents, in Wittness whereof wee have hereunto sett our hands and seals the fourth day of July 1711.
The Condition of this obligation is such that Whereas EDWARD BARROW is Commissionated SHERRIFF of said County dureing pleasure, if therefore EDWD. BARROW shall render unto Mr. Auditor or such other as shall be appointed to receive the same a particular perfect account of all her Majties. - Whereas JANE METCALFE, one of the Daughters of RICHARD METCALFE, decded., and Sister of GILBERT METCALFE and now maintained by him, clayming of EDWARD BARROW and ANNE his Wife, her part or portion of her said deced. Father's Estate for the prevention of further trouble hath agreed to stand to the Award of the Honble ROBERT CARTER, Esqr., in that behalfe, and EDWARD BARROW having also agreed to performe what he should adjudge equitable therein; And ROBERT CARTER, Esqr., having awarded that EDWARD BARROW upon settling all matters with GILBERT METCALFE, and said GILBERT giving good security to the Court to be answerable to said JANE for her said portion the interest thereof, that EDWARD BARROW pay unto GILBERT METCALFE in money sterling by good bills of Exhange to the value of the eighth part of RICHARD METCALFE, deced., his Estate according to the appraisment thereof or else in good young Negroes to said JANE and to be for her maintenance, to the value by four substantial men of the neighbourhood, and GILBERT METCALFE having this day given such security to the Court as aforesaid, Judgment is thereupon granted him against EDWARD BARROW and ANNE his Wife, for the value of one eighth part of RICHARD METCALFE, deced., his Estate according to the appraisment thereof; And it is ordered that EDWARD BARROW and ANNE his Wife pay the same to said GILBERT for the use aforesd.according to the portent and meaning of the Award, als exo

KNOW ALL MEN that I DANIEL GAINES of the County of Rappa, doe for the consideration of Two thousand two hundred pounds of good tobacco and cask to me in hand paid by HENRY GERMAN [Jarman] of the County aforesaid sell unto the said HENRY GERMAN his heirs and assignes forever all my right and interest of and to one parcell of land containing two hundred Eighty and four acres be it more or less being part of my share of a tract of land taken up betweene myselfe and NICHOLAS WILLARD as by Pattent the Twenty forth of January 1660 doth appear and contains One thousand three hundred seventy and six acres lying on the Southwest side of a line of marked trees that divides my other land and that as under and running across the said land beginning at a marked red Oake standing in the line that divides NICHOLAS WILLARD and my land in sunder and running crosse the sd land by a line of marked trees towards OCCUPATIA CREEEE to a marked Hickory standing by or neare the said line in the Pattent specified and from thence by the bounds of the said Pattent to MATOPONY PATH and crossing the said PATH and thence by the common bounds Southeast to a marked Hickory stake standing at the head of a divideing line that divides myself and NICHOLAS WILLARD as aforesaid and thence down the said line towards the River to the red Oake this place where we first began and do with the consent of MARGARET GAINES my Wife warrant all my just right and title of the said land unto the said HENRY JERMAN and his heirs forever he or they paying to our Sovereigne Lord the King his heirs and Successors all such taxes and impositions as shall be laid on the said land as Witness our hands and seals this 11th of July 1667 1672 (crossed out)

KNOW ALL MEN that I JOHN CATETT for divers good causes do grant unto RALPH ROUZEE Son of RALPH ROUZEE deced the one half of Fifteen hundred forty two acres of land (formerly holden in copartner ship) between me the sd JOHN CATLETT and RALPH ROUZEE, deced as it is now devided by the bounds hereunder menconed to say that part of 304 acres that Lyeth next to the Miles End of the sd Land is included by the Miles End of the sd land and a line of marked trees crossing the breadtt of the sd Land neer to the upper end of the cleared ground called the THICKETT but without the same E by a great white Oak standing neer to the branch that runneth intc the river by the side of the sd THICKETT also another parcell of land lying between the Miles End of the sd 304 acres & OCCUPACON CREEK side & on the East South East side of a branch that falleth into the branch comonly called the GREAT BRANCH following the same upwards and a little distance from the same untill it comes to the Eastmost mile En, of the 400 acres and Lastly another parcell of land commonly called the RICH LAND to say that part of it that lieth between OCCUPATION CREEK and the Branch called the GREAT BRANCH and along the sd Branch on the South side thereof till it come a little short of the place where it devides it self at the West end of the ground cleared in the life time of RALPH ROUZEE deced whereupon the GRATE BRANCH side standeth a market Spanish Oak and thence to a forked Popler soe unto a great red Oak the whole distance (Vitt) from the Spanish Oak first menconed being Eighty five perches thence through the Swamp to the comon bounds of the whole 1542 acres To have and hold all the aforesd parcell of land (being more or less) then the half of the sd 1542 acres to him and his heirs provides tnat tie vi they do yearly pay t he Quitrents or whatsoever taxes & com- positions that shall for the future be laid upon the said land due unto our sovereign Lord the King for the one half of the whole tract aforesaid & in case that the sd RALPH ROUZEE die hawing (missing) then the foresd parcells conteining the half part of the wholl tract I do by these presents grant unto SARAH ROUZEE Daughter of the said RALPH ROUZEE deced & her heirs for Ever Always Provided that in case the abovesd RALPH ROU7EF and SARAH ROUZEE both of them die without issue of their bodyes lawfully begotten that the aforesaid half part of the wholl tract return againe to the use and behoof of CATLETT abovesd his heirs and Exrs. Indenture made November 20, 1780; Benjamin Tennally in consideration of 3000 pounds common current money paid by Henry Rozer, Esq. has sold part of a tract called "Radford's Choice" containing 70 acres and beginning at a bounded white oak standing at the end of the east line of "Madducks Folly". Signed Benjamin Tennelly in the presence of and acknowledged before George Lee, Thomas Clagett and at the same time Susannah Tenally wife of Benjamin Tennally relinquished her right of dower.1

I Joseph Simpson of the county of Fairfax and parish of Fairfax being very sick and weak but of perfect senses and memory thanks and praise be to almightly God for the same, and calling to mind the sartenty of death and the unsartainly of this life, do constitute and appint this my last will and testament in manner form as followeth, viz;

The condition of the above obligation is such that if Charity Simpson Executrix of the last will and testament of Joseph Simpson deceased, do make a true and perfect inventory of all the goods chattles and credits of said deceased and the same so made do said court. and the same goods chattles land credits do well and truely administer according to law and make a just and true account of her actings and doings therein when thereto required by said court and do well and truely pay and deliver anll the legacies contained and speicified in the siad will as far as the said goods chattels and credits will extend according to the ture value thereof and the law shall charge. Mar. 11, 1789 - Henry Lee and Matilda his wife, of Westmoreland Co., Va., deed to Nelson Reed, James Reed, Robert Reed, Joseph Simpson and William Swink of Fairfax for 7/9 pounds, three fishing stands commonly known by the Lower Spout Stand & Shelving Rock and Point Below the Warehouse Stands lying in Fairfax Co. a little below the Lower Falls of the Potomac River.

WILL OF WINIFORD THOMAS LEWIS ADAMS

In the name of God Amen, I Winiford Adams of Prince Georges County being in
perfect health and of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God. Calling to
mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that

it is appointed for all men once to die, Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and recomend my soul in to the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my Body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a Christian Manner at the discretion of my Executor here after mentioned. mentioned nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall reserve the same again by the Almighty power of God.------ And as touching such worldly estate, estate wherewith it has pleased to bless me with in this life. I give, tender and dispose of the same in the following manner and form -----
First I give and bequeath to my son Richard Adams and to his heirs forever two Negro girls named Ida and Easter after my Decease, Also I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Lewis a Negro man Named James and to his heirs and assigns forever after my Decease, Also I give to my two daughters Mary Eathy and Anne Calvert and to my Daughter Pricilla Jinkin's children all my wearing apparel after my Decease to equally divided and all my other property to be equally divided after my Decease among my four children to wit --- John Lewis, Mary Eathy, Anne Calvert and Pricilla Jinkin's children.
