In the 1805 & 1806 tax lists of Hardin County Benjamin Humphrey is shown as being taxed on 300 acres on Rock Creek in Hardin County. About 1807 Benjamin Humphrey moved his family to Ohio County, Ky. and settled on a farm a short distance southwest of the present village of Matanzas.
