He was listed on the 1840 census in Lucas County, OH, which became part of Fulton County in Ohio. His children are listed as being born in New York on census reports. The biographical articles about John and Charles Hobart (in the write-up about the town of Marseilles in La Salle County, Illinois) state that they were both born in Steuben County, New York and that their father was a native of New York. Their mother is listed as Mary Williams Hobart, who was born in Wales and died in Ohio. A photo of her grave is posted on Findagrave.com in Fulton County, Ohio. Her grave states "wife of David Hobart." Her death year of 1841 and her age of nearly 48 are clearly readable. ------Mary Williams Hobart was married before the move to Ohio.---------------The David Hobart (b. 1787) who is buried in Marseilles, La Salle County, Illinois, is not listed as David H. Their graves have been posted on Findagrave.com in Montgomery County, Kansas along with some historical information. This information states that Elizabeth was born in Ohio. --------Eliza, listed with "mother" Sarah Hobart in 1880 was married and living with her husband Elias Eddy in Fulton County, Ohio, in 1850 and 1860. ----Catherine is the wife of John and Oscar is Oscar Slagle. DAVID HOBART was listed in Lucas County, Ohio in 1840 with a family of 8, a wife, 5 sons, & 1 daughter. His daughter Caroline had married Henry Slagle and was listed with him in 1840. These are two different David Hobart s. The one who moved to LaSalle County, Illinois was not listed as David H. Hobart. There are histories that state he moved from Lucas (later Fulton) County, Ohio. --------Also, David Hobart remarried to Sarah Rockwood in Lucas County, Ohio.
