Silas Baxter Runyon was mentioned in a land transaction
Memo: from email provided by Nancy Reddy:
A big group of the Runyons who had migrated from the Hunterdon, New Jersey area to Rowan County, North Carolina ended up in Madison County, Kentucky and many of those (in the Phineas Runyon family) joined the Shaker community at Pleasant Hill in Mercer County, Kentucky. You can read more about Phineas on his memorial at https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=runyon&GSmid=48738760&GRid=158083527&. At a certain age, the Shaker children were asked to sign to covenant or "go into the world." Silas Baxter had been brought by his parents Martin Runyon and Patience Baxter to the community at age seven but by 15 decided to was not the life for him.
How he ended up in Whitley County, I do not know but there he married Rebecca Tye July 18, 1825 or 1829 I was able to find the listing using the Internet Archive (way back machine) and is has been typed as 1829 - https://web.archive.org/web/20000524180925/http://www.rootsweb.com/~kycrrsek/whimarr.html but if you look at the a copy of the handwritten page (attached) it certainly looks like 1825. I don't really understand the scribbles below their names and those might be important. I think under Rebecca's is says "Dau. of Geo. Tye".
Silas and Rebecca ended up in Garrard County, Kentucky and Rebecca died June 8, 1846. My only source for that is - https://web.archive.org/web/20120120081213/http://www.genealogy.com/users/j/o/n/Jerry-W-

Isaiah Pratt1

M, #74061, b. between 1766 and 1784
Last Edited21 May 2018
Isaiah Pratt was born between 1766 and 1784.1
Isaiah Pratt appeared in the census of 1810 at Comment on 1810 Census, Culpeper Co., Virginia, USA; Four PRATT households appear on two consecutive pages of the 1810 federal census of Culpeper County, Virginia: Thomas Sr., Thomas, Jr., John/Jonathan ("Jno") and Isaiah PRATT. The order of enumeration in the 1810 census seems to be more or less alphabetical and does not necessarily imply geographical proximity pf the households. According to the census listings:
Isaiah was born 1766-1791 (age 26-44).
Thomas, Jr. was born in or before 1765 (age 45+)
Thomas Sr. was born in or before 1765 - age 45+ (actually born ca 1740)
Jno was also born in or before 1765 (age 45+)
The relationships, if any, between the four are mostly unresolved. Two are father and son (Thomas Sr. and Jr.) Jno could have been the brother of Thomas Sr. (though he was reportedly dead bef March 1802), or an older son. Isaiah could have been a son of either Thomas Sr. or of Jno, or it is possible that this was a record for Josiah Pratt, son of Thomas, Sr. and was mis-reported as "Isaiah".) Other relationships are of course possible. GA Vaut.2,3,4,5,6

Luticia Frances Higginbotham was a witness to the Evidence for paternity of John Henry: I am now convinced that the preponderance of the evidence I have found supports the conclusion that John Henry ROBERTS (JHR, ca 1867-1928) is the youngest child of Elijah Josiah ROBERTS (EJR, 1823-1868) and his SECOND wife Luticia Frances HIGGINBOTHAM (LFH, 1836-1877). The evidence supporting this conclusion is as follows:

     1.     JHR and EJR were both in Cherokee Co., TX around the time of JHR's birth (ca 1867). JHR claimed to have been born in Cherokee Co., TX (per his children who informed his death certificate and obituary). EJR and his family were in the 1860 federal census for Shady Grove, Cherokee Co. TX.
     2.     The probate record for EJR's estate mentions "5 minor children" (unnamed) when recorded on 28 December 1868. Only four minor children of EJR living in Dec 1868 have been otherwise identified, leaving the possibility that JHR was the fifth minor child (another child, Elijah Columby, died as an infant in 1864):
          a.     Margaret Caroline - aged 17 (b Nov 1851)
          b.     Susan Clarissa "Sudie" - aged 14 (b Oct 1854)
          c.     Elizabeth Jo - aged 7 (b Feb 1861)
          d.     Nancy Janervery - aged 6 (b Oct 1862)
     3.     EJR's widow, "Elizabeth Roberts" appears in the 1870 census (Rusk Co., TX), with her sister, Julia, and three minor children in her household, though there are discrepancies between the 1870 census DOBs and those from other sources:
     p. 485B, Lines: 21-25, Dwelling 301: Family 313
          21 ROBERTS, Frances 25 [1845] F W Keeping House $400 AL
          22 " , Julia 19 [1851] F W ?? AL
          23 " , Nannie 10 [1860] F W at home TX
          24 " , Lum 8 M w at home TX
          25 " , John 6 [1864] at home TX
     4.     A John Roberts (DOB 1865) appears in the household of a John T Wilson as a "orphan" farm worker in the 1870 census of Kaufman Co., TX. Coincidentally, the apparent location of the Wilson household is not far from the home of Emma Franklin, who JHR married in 1890
     5.     In the 1900 Census (Navarro Co., TX), JHR gives his parent's birthplaces both as AL. LFH was in fact born in AL, however EJH was born in TN. Since JHR's father EJR died in 1868 when JHR was between 1 and 4 years old, it is not unusual that he got his father's home state wrong.

The only contrary evidence that I have found against this conclusion has to do with inconsistencies in the various records for JHR's DOB. However, I believe that the lack of consistency between the various records actually weakens the strength of these facts as contradictory evidence.

     1.     JHR's 1928 obituary gives his date of birth (DOB) as March 17, 1867.
     2.     EJR's other youngest child was born 21 Aug 1864 according to cemetery records, which if correct, precludes a 1860 DOB for JHR unless they were twins (for which there is no evidence).
     3.     The 1870 census (Rusk Co., TX, dated 22 Sep 1870) gives his age as 6 implying a DOB of ca 1864.
     4.     The 1880 census (Kaufman Co., TX, dated 23 June 1880) gives his age as 15 implying a DOB of ca 1865.
     5.     The 1900 census (Navarro Co., TX) gives his DOB as "March 1864".
     6.     The 1910 census (Comanche Co., TX, dated 24 May, 1910) gives his age as 44 implying a DOB of ca 1866.

Stafford listed in the 1900 Census is Nancy's oldest half sister from Elijah's first marriage. I wonder why she would be living with Nancy way down in south Texas, Yoakum, DeWitt Co. when she has closer family in Cherokee Co., TX. I don't know what happened to her husband John Stafford. He may have died before 1900. -Bob. Hereinafter cited as "Lane BJ email 31 May 2014."

Roberts, Born: 14 Oct 1843 in Tennessee, Married: 30 Dec 1858 to John M. W. Stafford in Rusk Co., TX. I don't know if she had children. This would say she married the same year Elijah married Leticia and was about 15 years of age. I've seen a few census records that may be this family, but I haven't been able to confirm any of them..
