     Isaac Winston Sr. was born circa 1680 at New Kent Co., Virginia, USA;
Dabney Family of Early VA cites:
     1. Winston of Virginia and Allied Families, Clayton Torrence (Richmond, VA: Whittet & Shepperson, 1927), p. 22. Torrence concluded that indirect evidence indicates that Anthony Winston was a son of William Winston and the father of Isaac Winston.
     2. The Winstons of Hanover County, Virginia, and Related Families, Alfred Sumner Winston III (Baltimore, MD: Gateway Press, 1992), p. 114.
     3. Virginia Genealogical Society Quarterly, 1977, 15, 145.

Per Davis [1999:433], In 1712 Isaac was ordered to assist in clearing the road from John White to Half Sink. It is assumed he was at least 21 by this time.1,2,3 He married Sarah Dabney, daughter of Cornelius (I) Dabney and Edith Morrison(?),
;
Per Dabney Family of Early Virginia: "she married Isaac Winston Sr. of Hanover County, a son of Anthony Winston of New Kent County, who died in December, 1725. Although some traditions give his wife as Mary Dabney, evidence from an early deed indicates that he probably married first to Sarah Dabney, a daughter of Cornelius and Edith Dabney of Hanover County, and second to Mary Dabney. In the deed, made in 1732 in King William County, William Winston, who was identified as the son and heir of Sarah Winston, conveyed for a tiny token payment the 179.5 acres that Sarah Dabney received in 1701 to Cornelius Dabney (b. 1690/98, d. bef 1738, son of James Dabney of King William County), husband of Lucy (Winston) Dabney. Lucy was mentioned as a daughter of Isaac Winston in his will after her second marriage to Williams Coles. From the foregoing, it can be concluded that William Winston, sometimes called “Langaloo Billy”, and Lucy (Winston) Dabney Coles were brother and sister and children of Isaac Winston and Sarah (Dabney) Winston."

Per Davis [1999:434], "According to tradition, Isaac married Mary Dabney. Documentation cannot be found that Mary, the wife of Isaac was a Dabney. It appears that Isaac was married twice, and the children of Isaac were probably not the children of his 2nd wife, Mary." Davis says that Isaac's 1st wife ("name unknown") was the mother of his children. He had remarried before he wrote his will and died in 1760.5,6,2 Isaac Winston Sr. married Mary (?) before 1760
;
Per Davis [1999:434], This was his 2nd wife and she is named in his will in a manner that indicates that she was not the mother of his children also named in the will.6
Isaac Winston Sr. died between 6 February 1760 and 6 March 1760;
He presumably died between between the date of his will and the date of probate thereof.3
Isaac Winston Sr. was buried between 6 February 1760 and 30 March 1760 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Putneys Mill, New Kent Co., Virginia, USA; Presumably died between date of will and date of probate thereof.

     Isaac Winston Sr. was also known as William Winston.8

;
Per Dabney Family of Early Virginia:
     "Sarah Dabney was born to Cornelius and Edith Dabney about 1670-1680 in New Kent County, Virginia, in the area that later became Hanover County.
In 1701, she received a patent from the Virginia authorities for 179.5 acres in King William County. Her brothers, James and George, and half-sister, Dorothy Dabney received comparable grants because their father, Cornelius, had previously leased a similar amount of land from the Pamunkey Indians before the area was opened to settlement.
     "Within the next few years, she married Isaac Winston Sr. of Hanover County, a son of Anthony Winston of New Kent County, who died in December, 1725. From the foregoing, it can be concluded that William Winston, sometimes called “Langaloo Billy”, and Lucy (Winston) Dabney Coles were brother and sister and children of Isaac Winston and Sarah (Dabney) Winston.
     "Isaac and Sarah had six children: Isaac, born about 1715-20; William; Sarah; Mary Ann; Lucy; and Anthony, born September 29, 1723.
     "Isaac was prosperous and active in county affairs. In the 1704 Quit Rent Roll, he was charged with 850 acres in what later became Hanover County. In 1708, he and 8 others were ordered by the parish vestry to assist in the construction of a horse bridge over Beaver Dam Creek (Bettie W.) In 1712, he was put in charge of clearing a road from John White’s Mill to Half Sink and six residents and their tithables were ordered to assist him. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace soon after Hanover County was created from New Kent County in 1720. In 1721, he and another justice were appointed to confer with two justices from neighboring Henrico County regarding building a bridge over the Chickahominy Creek that divided the two counties. These records indicate that his residence, known as Half Sink, was located in the southwestern part of Hanover County, near the border with Henrico County. In1726, he was listed as coroner as well as Justice of the Peace in Hanover County in a report by Lieutenant Governor Hugh Drysdale. From 1731-1744, he was referred to as Capt. Winston in county records and identified as a merchant.
     "Isaac appears to have been an independent thinker in the religious area. In October, 1745, the King’s prosecutor brought a case in the General Court in Williamsburg before Governor Sir William Gooch against John Roan, Isaac Winston Sr., and five others for allowing John Roan, a dissenting minister, to preach at their houses. The jury brought in a special verdict that the meetings did occur, but the people did not act in a riotous manner and the case was continued for points of law to be argued later. The cases of Isaac and another defendant were brought up in April, 1748, resulting in a fine of 20 shillings and court costs for each defendant.
     "Isaac’s will was signed in February, 1760, and proved in March, 1760, indicating his death in 1760. The will indicates that his second wife, Mary, was living when he signed it. [2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11]
