     BIRTH     12 May 1922
     DEATH     15 Apr 2017 (aged 94)
Stella "Pauline" Pratt, 95, wife of Robert O. Pratt, passed away peacefully at 8:00 am on Saturday morning, April 15, 2017. Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 19, 2017, at 2 pm in the Stufflebean Chapel.
Stella Pauline (Landers) Pratt was born in Elmore City, Oklahoma May 12, 1922 to John William Landers and Stella Jones Landers. Pauline graduated from Pauls Valley High School in 1940 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert O. Pratt in November 1941which began a beautiful 54-year marriage ending with his death in 1996. Robert enlisted in the Air Force as WWII began and together they travelled and lived in various places where he was stationed as a B-17 pilot for the duration of the war. Robert and Pauline then settled in Pauls Valley where they had one son, Phillip R. Pratt. Due to an automobile accident, Robert was paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair at the young age of 24. This event, and the direction of life thereafter, uncovered the strength of character, faith and resilience of Pauline that so many of us have come to know and admire over her lifetime. She worked faithfully alongside her husband in every task he chose to take on with grace and strength, setting a wonderful example of a Godly wife and the true meaning of marriage and partnership. Pauline was "Pollyanna"esque in her outlook on life as she was endlessly positive about everything that life presented. Ironically, her dearest family and friends more affectionately referred to her simply as "Polly." She had the remarkable ability to be thankful concerning any event or situation. Even after Robert’s devastating accident she always said she was grateful, even in that, because it had made her to cherish him and all of life so much more. Pauline had a way bringing joy of life and laughter to every aspect of her life. Her personality was light and fun while tirelessly working to accomplish any given task. She mesmerized everyone she met with her animated gift of storytelling, richly bringing any character to life, which served her well in her many years of serving in Children’s Church.
Pauline loved sharing the story of how she became a Christian. She was saved, baptized and joined the First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley at the age of 12 where she served in many leadership roles and activities. Her roles included serving as Superintendent and teacher in the Children’s Church, Young Married department, Children’s Choir, as well as Hostess and member of the choir for over 40 years. Pauline was a President of the Pauls Valley General Hospital Auxiliary serving over 500 hours, Chairman of the Red Cross Blood Drive, Lamadra Mother’s Club and the Library Board for five terms and was on the committee to build the "Nora Warren Sparks Library." Pauline enjoyed traveling, tennis, golf, gardening, playing bridge and spending time with her two granddaughters. Pauline Pratt is survived by her sister Theresa Blalock, daughter-in-law Frann Pratt, granddaughters Jennifer Pratt and Jessica Johnson (spouse Gregg Johnson), great granddaughter Gabrielle Johnson and great grandson Judah Johnson. She was preceded in death by parents, John William and Stella Landers, spouse Robert O. Pratt, son Phillip R. Pratt, siblings Berniece Spears, Valter Landers, Ruby Rayburn, Onus Landers, Wylie Landers, Evelyn Bridges, William A. Landers. Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home
