John left his land to his three sons. To John And Edward Southern he left each a moiety (half) of one tract of land, and to his son, William Sourthern, he left the plantation on which he lived, containing 200 acres, as well as, the additional land he had patented. I William had no heirs, the land was to go to John's daughter, Lettice Cheadle."7

     William Southern, Rev War Soldier, was born 16 Aug 1722 in Middlesex County, Virginia the son of John and Margaret Kidd Southern. He first married about 1747 in Chesterfield County, Virginia, Mary Gibson the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Gibson. To this union were born three Children. Mary died in the year 1755 and William then married Magdelaine Faure (Ford) the daughter of Jaques and Elizabeth Anne Bondrant Faure (Ford). To this union seven children were born.
     William died 13 May 1794 on his plantation on Hewins Creek located just north of Pine Hall, Stokes County, North Carolina and was likely buried in the family cemetery. Over the years the exact location of the cemetery has been lost.
